Retailer data centre

Case Study

This major retailer required a fast track project to install and commission a new data centre facility to coincide with a fixed live date for its new business IT systems.

The Brief

Sudlows DMCC were awarded the contract following a competitive tender with the brief to create a new main data centre for the retailer. Smaller sites would be consolidated into this new facility with the old data centre becoming the retailer’s DR.

Given the tight project timescales, Sudlows DMCC ensured best practice was followed in implementing the facility whilst driving the project forward to commissioning.

Our commisssioning team produced and carried out a rigurous SAT and IST process which comprehensively tested the data centre before the IT migration took place.

It was during the pre-IST testing that an issue was discovered. The issue may have laid dormant for many years had the thorough testing and fault finding not been carried out. After rectifying the issue with the integrator, the IST was passed successfully and the facility exceeded the original design parameters. This gave the data centre manager extreme confidence in the retailer’s new infrastructure and the project was given the green light to move more positively to the migration stage.

Sudlows DMCC received an award and recognition for our contributions to the project which was completed on time and in-line with the retailer’s brief.
